UBD Sustainability Drive Strengthened by Stakeholder Engagement and Electric Vehicle Donation
On 3rd June 2024, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a successful stakeholder engagement session at the Senate Room, Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, bringing together alumni and industry partners to discuss and provide feedback on the university’s sustainability initiatives and future plans. The event was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Permanent Secretary (Wawasan) at the Prime Minister’s Office and Chair of the Special National Coordination Committee on SDG. Also present at the event was Yang Mulia Dr. Hazri bin Haji Kifle Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The stakeholder engagement session was attended by UBD alumnis, government officers and industry partners, demonstrating a strong interest in UBD’s sustainability efforts. The event aimed to present UBD’s current Sustainability Master Plan, highlight key goals and initiatives, and actively seek stakeholder feedback to identify potential areas for improvement. This initiative is part of UBD’s ongoing efforts to promote stakeholder engagement, foster a sense of ownership, and secure commitment to the university’s sustainability projects.
The engagement session gathered a wide range of insights and perspectives from stakeholders. This feedback will be instrumental in refining the current sustainability master plan and prioritizing focus areas. The session also successfully increased awareness and understanding among stakeholders about UBD’s sustainability efforts, fostering a stronger commitment to these initiatives. Clear action items and a follow-up plan were established to ensure that the feedback collected translates into tangible improvements in the Sustainability Master Plan.
A highlight of the session was the generous donation of an electric vehicle by Mr. Chen Dingguang, a current UBD student pursuing Master in Business Administration at UBD School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE). This electric vehicle will significantly enhance UBD’s sustainability initiatives by reducing the campus’s carbon footprint and promoting the use of green technology. The introduction of the electric vehicle marks a significant step forward in UBD’s commitment to sustainability and serves as an inspiring example of how individual contributions can drive collective progress
The stakeholder engagement session was a resounding success, characterized by meaningful discussions, valuable feedback, and the exciting introduction of the electric bus. UBD remains committed to refining and advancing its Sustainability Master Plan, leveraging the insights and dedication of its stakeholders to drive forward sustainable initiatives.
