OAVCR organise "Shaping a Sustainable Future for Humanity" public talk

On 8 August 2023, space enthusiasts, researchers and students came together for the “Shaping a Sustainable Future for Humanity” public talk organised by the Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor (Research), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) at the Pro Chancellor Arts Centre, UBD. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Guest of Honor: Tuan Ir. Awg Haji Muhammad Nazri bin Haji Muhammad Yusuf, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications. Also present at the event was His Excellency Bernard Regnauld-Fabre Ambassador of France to Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Hazri bin Haji Kifle Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Miss Hannah Doyle, Deputy Public Affairs Officer and representative of US Embassy.

The talk explored Jupiter, Saturn, and their moons, as explored by the brilliant minds behind the “Cassini and JUpiter ICy moons Explorer” (Juice) missions. Delivering the talks were esteemed scientists from the Cassini and Juice missions, including Professor Jani Radebaugh, Dr Anezina Solomonidou, and Dr Rosaly Lopes, who are involved in multiple National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and European Space Agency (ESA) projects. They shared their first-hand experiences and cutting-edge research on the wonders of the outer solar system, providing unique insights into the exploration of Jupiter, Saturn and their moons.

The speakers also interacted with attendees, providing a platform to ask thought-provoking questions and spark engaging discussions on various aspects of space exploration, sustainability, and the potential for future missions.
